Snow Storm = More Modeling Time

Well the forecasters are calling for 12" to 20" inches of snow with blizzard like conditions. All the schools in the area have already canceled classes and the storm hasn’t even started. For the first time that I can remember, my company is not opening due to the weather. So that means I get to play hookie tomorrow. I think I’ll continue working on wiring my control panel in between keeping the walks and driveway plowed. Anybody else going to be able to play hookie cause of the storm and be able to put some time into the layout or your latest modeling project?

I’ve heard varying forcasts from 6-12" to 12-18" and everything in between.

I have no school tomorrow. Since my dad will be home as well, I’ll be able to get the basement rearranged, and begin on benchwork!

I am in Denver and wish there was MORE snow!!! I need all the model time I can get!!!

I don’t have any snow and I have a major test.[:(]

You guys are lucky - it never snows down here in Queensland! [:(!]

12C and sunny here in Olympic land.[:O] Snow is melting fast. They had better ski quick.[:D]

We have all you want. Just come and pick it up . No charge [:D][:D]

Well yup I got to play hookie today as well. Not much work has gotten done on the Layout. Did get a trip into the hobby store. Just some more Recon work avaiblity of track at the local store. Just working on putting in new wiring for lights and a deicated circut for the layout. Before building the bench work. Also got some time with the little one running the trains on the small oval on the kitchen floor.

Lots of new snow on the mountains - but what reached the ground here in the Las Vegas Valley arrived in liquid form.

I doubt that the local highway crews even have a snowplow or salt truck. Further up I-15 (both latitude and altitude) there may be snow problems, but they don’t effect us here.

Likewise, the LA&SL isn’t impacted between here and Barstow. I don’t doubt that the farther north it runs, the worse the snow problems get. Someday I’ll have to drive up to Caliente to see if UP has any snow-moving equipment there.

Personally, I don’t know why one voluntarily lives in snow country, or the tropics (that includes Florida) for that matter. I don’t like snow (except for looking at it) or steaming heat I can’t leave the room from. Never mind. Too many people already live where I do. Stay put and suffer. I appreciate your contribution.

There are two seasons in the tropics: hot and hotter, but I suppose there are some of you who want to be there.

Heading into 3rd day in a row off work - time off is nice [:)], but I have to cover it with vacation [:(]. Been working on the layout and will do more today [:D] after shoveling snow [sigh].

Enjoy

I agree, more snow, more layout time. Its snowing right now AGAIN, and I guess I will head into the basement.

We got 20+ last weekend, and more today. Anybody see a off switch??

On the other hand, here in Minnesota we have less modelling time due to weather…just enough snow (over a two day period) to slow the roads way down with spin-outs etc., so commuting takes a lot longer than usual, but not enough to close everything.

Here in mid-Michigan we got 10 inches last night. Nothing open, can’t get down my street, have lots of food and liquid refreshment - basement here I come!

I’m retired so every day is like a snow day, except some days don’t have any snow. Seriously, I live near Martinsburg, WV and we got 24" from the first storm and so far, we’ve gotten 6-8" from this second storm and it’s still snowing. Soon we’ll need a rotary snow plow to get us out. It does allow you to focus your attention on things not involving outside activities, other than keeping your driveway clear. I’m using the time to read about track planning and backdrop painting.

Stay home and enjoy the down time.
