Does anyone have any good recommendations for scenery material or guides to making a winter layout?
Of all the layouts I’ve done, I’ve never done a winter layout, and as I’m finishing benchwork for my first layout at my own home, I’m trying to get my wife involved wherever I can, and that usually means getting her opinion on appearance type stuff… I asked, since now is the time to make these decisions, what season should it be on the layout? The answer: winter.
We used Dept 56 snow on the club layout. It looks pretty good. We did not secure it and just vacuum it up when we are done with it.

Regards,
Roy
Here’s some “permanent” snow…got a jar of Woodland Scenics “Snow” at the Hobby Lobby craft store and sprinkled it over a white glue base.

Both the skating pond and the lake are Envirotex…
Will_K, welcome to the forum. The word snow on this forum is now known as OHIO. It is OHIOING, we had 4 inches of OHIO and so on. [;)] Glad to see you on here. Some good advice on this forum.
I did the same as Roy above with the Dept 56 snow. The problem I had was a small draft blew some on the tracks and several locos got the plastic snow in their gears, what a nightmare!!! This time I plan on using something else more permanent, maybe the "OHIO’ from Scenic Express…Tim
