Some years ago a model railroad magazine, don’t know which one it was, had an article about building timber snowsheds. It had drawings and measurments and such. It was part of the books and such that my dad had and after he died my stepmother figured she had it all and I no longer exsisted. So now I have no access to his collection to seek the article. The article was written in the early 70’s I believe.
I’ve searched the internet and libraries to no avail and the only snowsheds I can find are more modern concrete going through Snoqualamie Pass.
If anyone can help me find the article or lend a hand in directing me where to search it would be a great help.
A search of the Trains.com magazine index shows 19 hits having to do with snowsheds. Check there.

Back in the late 40’s through the 50’s MR ran a series called the “Bluebook” that listed prototypr information. the one that comes to mind was several pages about wooden trestles. They were designed to be cut out and saved. I’m pretty certain information on wooden showsheds was included in one of the series. All were pretty much location specifc and VERY heavy timber on the order of 12"-16" square in size.
Mrjimbone,
As Randy suggested, I just did a search in the Index of Magazines at this site using the search term “snowshed”, and found the following articles. The one in RMC might be the one for which you are looking. Also, if you could get the Bridges and Buildings handbook on Inter Library Loan, that might solve your access problem. As you may know, you can order reproduction copies of most of these articles either from the NMRA’s Kalmbach Memorial Library or through Customer Service at this site. Perhaps your stepmother would welcome an opportunity to sell you your father’s collection.

Thanks for all information, looking at the listings I think I’m leaning to the 1973 issue of Railroad Modeler. While I was in the army 72 - 75 my dad started collecting PFM brass engines, Campbell kits and other things. After the funeral my stepmother said she would have given me all the train stuff that had belonged to me, but was unable to find any of it. I haven’t had any contact with her for 8 or more years, so who knows what has happened to all his and mine train stuff. Go figure.
Hi there.
