Snowy Saturday in LoDo (8 IMG)

Hey Gang,

While we didn’t get as much snow as predicted on Saturday, we did have enough to inspire me to head out trackside. Here are my shots from the day. My initial trip downtown yielded this shot of a UP power move. This was about the heaviest the snow got:

After this, there didn’t seem to be much going on, so I headed home for a bit to warm myself up and dry off the camera gear. Later that evening, I heard the zephyr go by up the road, so I thought I’d head back downtown to catch it. As I was getting into LoDo, I noticed a pair of SD40-2’s with a cut of autoracks waiting for Amtrak to get past. You can see that the storm is already starting to clear to the Northwest:

When Amtrak got into the station, I had a nice little surprise on the point!

There used to be bumper stickers on cars around here that read,

“Where the heck is Shueyville Iowa?”

May I substitute “LoDo” for Shueyville and ask the same question?

Oops. Sorry about that! Lower Downtown area of Denver, CO.

As always Chris.

You are a pretty good story teller with your Camera. I’m still in Ed Blysard’s Camp about you. You always seem to find interesting places to photograph! And never seem to wind up in Dullsville![:'(]

Thanks for sharing your snowy outing![:-^]

It has been a few years since I was through on the Zephyr. I am curious to try the temporary station and glimpse what had been going on at DUS. Judging by your photos, things have built up a bit since then.
