This past weekend and I was looking at the concrete deck which the Walther’s pier crane travels upon. It’s perfectly flat and shiney.
When the last time you seen perfectly smooth concrete?
Out comes my 400 grit sandpaper, and after 20 minutes of careful sanding…Viola! It’s just rough enough for a almost gritty texture!
Next…Why oh why does Walthers include PLASTIC RAILS molded on. It’s on their over head cranes, it’s on their pier crane deck, it’s on the car dock float? WHY? It doesn’t look real and it’s a pain to paint!
Out comes my battery powered drimmel, cranked up to 25K revs. I make short work of the rails in the groove. I’m going to replace them with code 70 (smaller if I can get it) rail.
Pics coming soon.
Oh the point of this rant…What would you change about some models to make them better?
