Service Disruptions: California Zephyr, Pacific Surfliner, Coast Starlight

Coast Starlight Service Temporarily Suspended

Due to weather-related track closures along the Coast Starlight route, train 11, the southbound Coast Starlight, originating in Seattle on January 14, 2005 will operate only to Oakland instead of its normal terminus at Los Angeles. (Passengers destined for San Jose will transfer to a Capitol Corridor train from Oakland.) Passengers traveling to points south of San Jose may transfer to a San Joaquin train in Oakland.

Northbound Coast Starlight train 14 will originate in San Luis Obispo on January 14 and 15 with connecting bus service only from Los Angeles. Effective January 16, train 14 will originate in Oakland. Passengers from Los Angeles will be re-accommodated on a San Joaquin train connecting with the Coast Starlight in Sacramento.

These arrangements will prevail until track is restored along the coast line route north of Los Angeles.

Pacific Surfliner Service Temporary Disruption

Due to weather-related track closures along the route, all Amtrak Pacific Surfliner service is temporarily suspended. On Friday, January 14, 2005, a Metrolink train operating on Amtrak schedules will run between Los Angeles and San Juan Capistrano. The round-trip service will operate on Amtrak Pacific Surfliner #578’s schedule (departs Los Angeles at 2:00 p.m.) and train #583’s schedule (departs San Juan Capistrano at 4:23 p.m.) All Amtrak and Metrolink fare media will be accepted.

All other Pacific Surfliner trains remain temporarily suspended with no alternative transportation. Amtrak stations at Anaheim, Santa Ana, Irvine, San Juan Capistrano and Oceanside will not be staffed until regular Pacific Surfliner service resumes.
