Hi everyone! I just wanted to poke my head in and say hello. I did something pretty silly and very sneaky this past week…I joined my hubby’s model railroad forum in hopes of finding out what to get him for his birthday.
A few of you may have actually gotten e-mails from me asking if you knew my hubby from his train club!
Personally, I thought I was being rather clever!
Anyways, since I went so far as to join and everything, I figured I’d stick my head in and say hello. Hi you all, and hi sweetheart! (canazar).
I wish I could get my wife to sticK her head in here more often…If she did, she may learn the difference between Tyco junk and the good stuff when she makes a model train find at the many garage sales she likes to shop …chuck
When I saw “The Wife” as the originator and Chuck as the most recent poster, one word came to mind: Busted! I really hope you can do something good with that Tyco. How about taking the guts out of it and sticking a small video camera in the nose, with the lens pointing out the headlight opening? Then you’d have something everyone thinks is neat, and you’ll have given the Tyco the honor it deserves, not because of the manufacturer, but because of the gift giver.
Hey, “Wife,” would he like a video camera to run around the layout and get an engineer’s eye view of his layout?
Only 5 people have responded so far. That would make for a nice present or idea for one. I would keep a low profile and tabs on that particular thread.
And the OP could be too sneaky … just a heads up. People can come on here and claim to be anybody, so you never know!
This could be our friend Al maskerading in his latest online disguise … I truly hope not, but it’s best to not forget how easy it is to claim to be someone you’re not in cyberspace.
I’d have to go with Joe on this one as well - according to “the wife”'s profile and “canazar”'s, they both reside in different time zones !?! Unless they live right on a time zone border, I’d be a little suspect as well.
Well, assuming that canazar lives where he says he does (which I believe), his wife got the time zone right, and he got it wrong. Arizona’s confusing, as we don’t do DST, but even then e got it wrong.
Based on her other post, I think she’s for real, at least until I see otherwise. Sometimes we might be a bit too paranoid. But there is consistency between her post and his (she got him a loco, there are MRC decoder issues).
Real or not, if a wife wants to get something for her Husband, a gift certificate is always a good idea. Back when I first got started in the hobby, I received two gifts from my wife but they were of no use to me, since they did not relate to my interests.
We now make lists for each other with several items on it and sometimes it works out great.
In fact, my wife was sending an email to her family with gift ideas for Christmas, and one of the things she listed for me was gift certificates to one of my favorite train vendors. I love my wife! [swg]
A little background… I am part of a modular train club here in Arizona. She thought that some of the other members were on here as well. So she made a name, registered and tried to find them. But, I am the only one from the club.
She went as far stealing my cell phone to call some of them for advice on what to get me. Oh, how I do love her so. And yes, This is her in the picture up in Kingman,AZ
No worries! I know I snuck in the back door of the boy’s club…and I’ll quietly sneak right back out too! And I totally understand why you guys would feel weird having the wives poke around here… It would be like having a hubby hiding in the bathroom stall while we girls chit chat in there. Eeeek!
LOL… Oh, at least a few or so. Darn near gave me a heart attack and I knew she was posting it. And she sits on the other side of my desk here at home in our den.
