So What's Everyone's New Project= Goal!

This is what ive been working on ,and gotten done ,whats your goals for the remainder of the year??? tips work ??

Carl…

My goal for the rest of 2006 is a very simple one - get the major benchwork, basic subgrade and critical (to be) hidden track installed and operational on the new, expanded Chrysanthemum Empire. I’ll get started as soon as the ambient temperature in the garage falls below my blood temperature.

The local TV weather weenie says that might happen next week - maybe.

I hope to have my layout completed to the point where I can start laying some track!

To get the rest of my old HO locos converted to DCC and all my N scale locos more detailed.

I have not done a thing to my layout since May. My goal is to start small, maybe with a structure project over the rest of this week and then get back into the swing of working on the RR in the fall.

Not too long ago I did a Rail Power GP-60M in the Maersk scheme. I wish I knew how to post a picture of it so I can show it to you guys. I still need to modify the fuel tank and add the extra detail parts that I have: air filters, air tanks, brake lines, and such. I have also been buying freight car kits off eBay and I need to start to assemble them and properly weigh them and such. I should be busy way into '07. Too many projects to list, but I’ll get them done.

My layout goal is to complete the east side wall of the benchwork within the next month. Then within the next two months lay track on the recently completed south side of the layout, currently benchwork, sub-roadbed and roadbed are in place here. Then three to four months down the road begin building the north wall side benchwork. Progress of my layout can be viewed from my Google pages web site, link is below my signature.

My goal for this year is not to be deployed overseas. If I can accomplish that I hope to tackle the coal loading operations of my layout. I will not get all scenery complete but I hope to be running trains by Christmas.

Hmmmm…

My layout:

  • Finish the interior of my larger depot, including lighting.

  • Paint the pink insulation foam base, then lay down roadbed and ballast.

  • Add a few more scratch-built light poles to my yard and the rest of my layout…

  • To finally see my Stewart NYC “Cat whisker” #1600/2400 FT A-Bs (with sound) come in that has been on special order for over a year now.
    Club layout:

  • To fabricate a simple jig for both cutting and assembling consistently-sized 4’ & 8’ x 30" layout modules. [^]

  • Along with the above, to connect the beginning and the end of our 32’ long staging yard with a loop of modules so that we can lay down some track and finally start running some trains. [:D]

All that should keep me fairly busy for a little while.

I’ve got to get moved and get some benchwork up.

So many things going on this summer, but intend to build a curved (lift up) section for the layout. This will tie the Coast main line into the branch line so I can run full trains around and not just local freights.

I am about to finish my1959 consolidated Super Chief/El Capitan. I would then like to be moving on to the late '50s Sunset Limited. Somewhere in there I am trying to get a Central of Georgia “Man o War” done for a friend for Christmas.

Finish assembling my LocoIO board so I can experiment with control panel ideas more.

And finish at least one of my RS-3’s, now that I know how to make a very nice horn bracket for the front of the cab. I have all the paint and materials.

Maybe start on my cement plant, although I have no place to actually install it on the layout.

Have enough scenery done so I may be able to post some pics here.I am on vacation this week so a few days of it are dedicated to the layout. I should make progress, big time, only problem the temps in the garage may hit 100+ today.

Also to finish trackwork in the yard. Currently the is the yard throught,arrival/departure, and the yard lead. I need to add 3-4 clasification tracks along with service and some industrial switching.

Any helpers out there? The layout runs good and I can hide 2 long or 4 short trains in staging, but still have a through track open.

The family will be giving me an airbrush for my birthday so I also plan to doctor my backdrop, and clean up my rolling stock and re-weather.

First, for my wife to finally get the basement cleared out. Then, to get the basement mitigated for Radon (very high here in Ohio). Then, finally after that to start on my benchwork!!

Substantially finish The Behemoth Helix!

For the near future:

Finish installing decoders in my locomotives (1 down, 1 in progress, 4 to go).

Thoroughly clean my track.

Finish installation of coat-hanger wire throws for the last 3 turnouts (see: http://www.2guyzandsumtrains.com/Content/pa=showpage/pid=13.html[](http://www.2guyzandsumtrains.com)).

Build turnout indicator circuits for my solenoid-powered turnouts (see www.awrr.com)

Build a handheld throttle for my Digitrax Zephyr (see www.tonystrainexchange.com)

Clean the freakin’ garage and train room!!!

Further down the road, I’ll have to assemble the dozen or so freight car kits I’ve amassed over the past several months.

I’m hoping to finish tracklaying, get most of the buildings, and I’ve got a GP7 to paint. The limiting factor is my budget but I’m running trains so I’m happy.

I am working on getting the track laid and operational in the new room. Everything is down except for the upper level above the hidden staging. Hopefully by late sept. or early Oct. I will have that completed and will have some freinds over for a “Golden Spike” ceremony and have the first operations of the entire layout.

I hope to have all my benchwork completed by the end of the year. This may be quite a challenge since I was supposed to start the benchwork a couple months ago!
