I’ve been invited to the engine sheds near me tomorrow to watch Thomas being stoked up.Does anyone need any specific photos of wheels, cabs or drive rods on small engines?I should have full access so if you need photos let me know .
Troy
Hi Troy, any photos of Thomas would be great. Kids love him.
Tim
A great morning playing real trains. It’s not what you know,it’s who you know!
A very happy son got to drive them all.Unfortunately cameraman did not [:(]
Troy
Troy,
That is so awesome! Where are these located? Talk about an awesome opportunity. How many locos in all? I’ve seen the Thomas that operates in the US. kids absolutely love it. Later eh…Brian.
Hello Brian,
This is the railway about half amile from me.My next door neighbour works in the renovation sheds and my work collegue is a volunteer driver.
Since Thomas had come to visit my son and I were invited to watch the trains getting ready. Also since my workmate was there my son spent the whole time on the footplate whilst I froze to death in the yard.
A really unique view behind the scenes.I took about 100 photos.
Hands up everybody that wants a shed like this
Troy[:D]
Troy,
Thanks for the info. That truly is a unique experience. BTW…in order to freeze you need to live here! Come over some Winter…you’ll appreciate home! Later eh…Brian.
That is awesome Troy thanks for taking the pics, they look great. How old is your son that got to drive them? Bet he was grinning ear to ear.
Tim
Freezing watching trains is better than warm and NO trains![:D]
It’s moments like this I feel I ought to get an award for providing the ultimate experence to my children while freezing! You Ought to get one Troy!
Just watching his face as he chuffed by was good enough. He was the only child left (out of 4) to drive his own steam engine and at 7 years old he achieved his goal.
Try as I might though,I couldn’t get him to take him hat off for a good picture.
That’s sad! 2 thomases, at least my train characaters are all based on real
locomotives. By the way that’s a lucky kid, Im barely allowed TOUCH an 7&1/2 in
guage steam train.
Hi mac4884
I don’t quite know how to tell you this but Thomas and friends are based on real locomotives.
Thomas is based on a LNER 060 tank locomotive James I think is a LMS 2p
Daisy on a Metropolitan Cammel railcar Toby a Y6 tram locomotive Duck is a panier tank of the GWR Bill and Ben are industrial locomotives Hunslets I think.
I am talking the proper Thomas by rev Audery not the modern over comersialised rubbish
I assume by your not real remark you are from the USA and have littlel or no interest in what you would call overseas prototypes, I am sure the US would have its own train caracters meant for children
regards John
Troy
They have to be the best versions of Thomas & Co. I have seen. I don`t get around the preserved lines much. Are they based at the East Sussex. Too many railways settle for sticking a flat face on the front.
By the way, nice pics.

This looks good Troy.
Rgds ian
