Software to make up and set out a train

Years ago there was a DOS based software program I had purchased that all you had to do was enter the car, industry, and lading and during each operating session you could print out your instructions. My question is - is there a software prgoram out there that I can use that is similar?

There is a similar (well sort of!) program from Albion Software, called “Ship It!” This may be what you’re referring to.

Check out Protrak. It is a very full feature program. I have used it for years and am very pleased. Support and help is easy to get from the programer and users group.

I actually still use the Car Card-Waybill system. It’s still the most flexible system I have found. I use a program from Shenandoah Software. It’s really simple to add all your industries, plus a database of 6,000 prototype industries you can route your cars to “off line”. The website is below. I have ShipIt as well as their auxillary programs Railbase and Scheduler. I am very fond of Railbase which is a data base for rolling stock and engines. With respect to ShipIt, I have spent many hours trying to get it to run correctly. From visits to the Yahoo group for that software, I am not alone.

I downloaded a program by Dave Husman called CarCard and am very impressed with it. In fact, I will probably use it instead of ShipIt. Unfortunately, I don’t remember where I got it from but if Dave reads this thread, he will tell you.
