While driving through the industrial part of town the other day I happened to see a business that sold sheet plastic, so today I stopped in and asked if they sold polystyrene sheets–sure enough, they did! I bought two sheets of .020" styrene for $3 each, in 28"x60" size! They also sell 4’x8’ sheets for $8! While I suppose I’ll need to buy scribed siding/sidewalk styrene at the hobby shop, I think my sheet styrene needs are taken care of for a while–instead of cardstock for my streets, I think styrene it shall be! I’ll go back and get a sheet or two of .040" for my backdrops once my walls are suitably prepared for their arrival!
Check out your local yellow pages for plastics distributors–it could provide you with plenty of plastic for a low price! I ordered a catalog from a plastic distributor, which was still far less expensive than the hobby shop price–but this was even cheaper, and since it was local I didn’t have to pay for shipping either, or wait for delivery!
