Some Highline shots

Sience it’s so slow in here I thought I would post some pix taken this weekend on the BNSF Highline around Lake Almanor. This area is challenging because it seems everywhere you go the trees cast shadows on the train.

This was taken friday just north of hwy 36 in Westwood.

I awoke to a detector alerting me to a aproaching northbound, so I ran up to the tracks (at the hwy36 crossing) and got this shot. There is justsomething about this shot I really like.

Then a couple hours later I caught this southbound at Clear Creek Jct.

I followed it down to the hwy 89 crossing still showing its Western Pacific heritage.

Cool shots, Chad- I love that last one!

Great shots, ! The second one is awesome.

Thanks Brian, KP [8D]

Very nice pictures, Chad. Thank you for sharing them with us all.

Nice Chad. I do like the 2nd one!

Mook

Thanks CW, Mookie.

Actually, I like the first shot best–reminds me of the north country that I get to see about once a year (though never with power like that).

That second shot is a little less novel to me than it is to the flatlanders in the true Midwest [;)], but it’s still neat!

Thanks Carl. It took some looking to find a spot around here that isn’t in a canyon of trees.

Nice stuff, I think the second one is really interesting. You should have it be slow more often if it means you can post more shots.

Thanks Trainfan.

Nice Shots Chad!

Hey, Chad, shot number two is great! It immediately made me think of it as a railroad version of ‘Gorillas in the Mist.’ Thanks for sharing.

Thanks RJ, Chuck. Sorry it took so long to respond, I’ve been mobile most of this week. The more I look at #2 the more I like it. There are many things I can find fault with in that pic but still, there is just something about it. I actually hesitated posting it but decided to chance it and see what responce it got. Apparently I’m not the only one that liked it (thanks for the input gang).I wish I could have composed it with the poles seperated more but the geography wouldn’t allow it (let alone in the time I had to work with)

…I too like highway 36 crossing photo…Looks like a telephoto shot and the track still looks good magnified. Has a nice RR quality to it.
