I have around three dozen unbuilt Wabash line rolling stock kits originally bought during the 80s and early 90s. These kits are from various sources…Accurail, Walthers, Athern, Roundhouse, etc.
First off, are these beasts worth the effort of trying to sell them on ebay or some other outlet? There are some duplicate car numbers…should I sell those in separate lots or all together? Any kind of ideas on what would be a reasonable asking price?
I presume you are talking about freight cars and not locomotives.
I don’t think the duplicate numbers would be a really high concern for potential customers. As for price, the idea with e-bay is to put the object out there and the market determines the price.
Yes, all but three are freight. The other three are two Athern UP/Wabash Pool passenger cars and one Roundhouse passenger. For now I’m holding on to my locomotives and my set of IHC Rivarossi Heavyweights.
As far as ebay goes, I was on the good end of someone not putting a reasonable starting bid on something…bought a one owner special edition Buick for about 1/3 the market value. Although I don’t expect to get rich off selling this stuff…and I know I’ll likely get a fraction of what I have in them…I don’t want to be the one kicking myself for not setting a reasonable starting point.
