Some pics of the Kokomo Model Railroad Club layout

Here are a few pictures of our club layout here in Kokomo, IN. Based on the old Clinchfield Railroad. Layout is HO scale, 15’ wide by 50’ long, CTC dispatched with 5 mainline cabs and block control. Layout was started in the early 70’s. All of the main lines are hand laid on truescale roadbed. Erwin Yard is done with the old fiber tie strips and fiber tie turnouts. Miller yard, which came later, was done with flex track that was on the market by that time. While the trees needed to give a feel of the Clinchfield never really happened, operation on the layout continues to this day. Enjoy. Mike

Nice looking layout. BTW, back when I was a grad student in Bloomington Indiana, I sold my garage layout 1994, which was mostly benchwork and track built in sections to make it easily movable. A fellow from up Kokomo way bought it and picked it up in a U-haul. It would have been good for someone who wanted a head start and could by-pass benchwork and track laying and scenic a layout after the basic parts were done. It was a loop to loop 16x19 hollow L. I always wondered what become of it and it it got finished by the purchaser.

Cheers, Jim
