Nice photos. I like the paint scheme, with a few comments. The FRA now requires all locomotives to have either white or yellow reflective material on the sill of the frame…you might want to extend your yellow to that point… You might want to consider some diagonal blue striping on the yellow nose and long hood end, as well, to relieve the large expanses of solid color, as well as some diagonal (60 degrees from horizontal) yellow stripes fore and aft of the roadname on the long hood, for the same reason. I realize that these items make painting and decalling a little more challenging, but they might enhance things just a bit. You’re off to a good start, however.
Very nice! I always like to see photos of what everybody is doing, you know, a picture is worth a thousand words and all that. I’d like to see more of your structures and what looks like a partial senicked area or backdrop?
bwilcox, i will try what you suggested on the paint scheme shortly and will get back to you.
tangerinejack, the scenicked bit in the background is whats left over from my 4 X 8, i simply lifted the mountain off the old layout and wacked it in the corner, at the moment all i have is a depot and oil co. i’m pretty sure i have some pics, and i’ll post them later…
I like your updated paint diagram. The diagonal end stripes look great. The diagonal stripe on the hood is cool, but add another one in front of the road name…you may need to scrunch them closer to the road name to fit the OL logo.
I hope you don’t mind my commentary…I’m a designer by trade, so I find it hard to keep silent in such matters…
i dont mind at all, positive comments and feedback such as yours are great, and is what this forum is about, when i get time i will add in the suggestions and post it later tonight.
