Here is a UP eastbound on the Oregon side of the Columbia river just about to go under the Biggs jct. bridge (US97).

Here is a westbound unit grain train (with matching cars) about 15 miles east of Wishram, Wa.

Chad,

Nice shots ,I love the terrain…Looks like 6939 was at a museum wth all those different cabooses and old equipt.around it…

Thanks for sharing…

Great shots Chad. Sounds like you had a great time!!

Yes, I’ll agree with the previous posters. You do have some nice photos here, Chad!

QUESTION: While you were in Amboy, Calif. did you happen to notice any water service tank cars parked near the tracks? 37-years ago Newberry Springs (located east of Daggett, the station where the Union Pacific breaks off for Las Vegas and Salt Lake City) supplied the city water for this desert outpost. Santa Fe equipment carried the stuff. I wonder if that’s still the practice today?

Thanks guys.

Bob, I can’t say for sure, but it does look like there are some tank cars on the right in the picture. I will be going through there next week and I’ll pay more attention.

Yes it was (I should have mentioned that)

Ah Chad! Just took a great, short and cheap vacation. Thanx for paying my way!

Mook

Great shots Chad!. I love that manifest with the SD60M leading. Sheesh, between you and Chris, I am going to have to start working harder to top you guys… [:)]

Thanks. And Mook, just let me know when you are ready for another [;)]

Great stuff, Chad. I really liked the shot of 6936. The axles in the foreground add to the interest. I might have cropped the right side of the frame off, though if I were in your shoes. The crane hook (or whatever it is) is a little distracting. BTW, is that another DD behind the 6936? I’ve always thought it would be a lot of fun to see a couple of those lashed up together, and you just stumble onto it!

Wow!!! Awesome shots!!! Dig the one of 6936 at Portola – coupled to another DD40AX! [:O] Very, very cool…

Thanks Fuzz and Chris. Yes, that is another DDA40X. It is the Portola Museum’s 6946.

Here is a little different angle

I am in the car with the motor turned off. This is great! [:X]
