Some Recent Work (Image Heavy Post)

Hey Gang,

Here’s a bit of my stuff from a recent outing over Boreas Pass. Boreas Pass was once upon a time a part of the Denver, South Park and Pacific. I was mostly driving over it for fall color, but it was nice to see that the powers that be have preserved some of the rail heritage of the place.

There’s still remnants of a roundhouse as Como. I didn’t have light that I really liked for that, so I passed it up for this trip. I’ll have to try and do something with it in the future, though.

On the way up, my friends and I stopped at a side trail that had some aspen along it. Lo and behold! There was still track in place there:

No worries about Wendy’s safety. These are truly the tracks to “nowhere,” running for only 300 feet or so. I know we should expect a train on any track at any time…but if one shows up here, it’s going to be a ghost train!

The rails here are old. Really old. Old enough that they could have (and probably are) original (although I’m guessing the Forest Service has relaid the tracks…I’ve got my doubts that everything would have been so well preserved nearly 130 years later). Check it out:

There are some ruins in place along the line. Here’s part of one of them:

At the summit of the pass, we found a C&S boxcar:

and the Section House (along with some other out buildings). In winter, you can actually rent this as a cabin if you’re X-country skiing over the pass (it’s closed to vehicles in the winter):

Chris:

Speaking for myself. I always enjoy the pictures you and others share with us, here. They are always interesting and enjoyable to view.

I’ve said it before, we are very fortunate on this FORUM site to have a number of photographers who come here and share their efforts with with those of us who visit here. Professional or amature, the pictures are always interesting, shots that the individual can display with prde. The rest of us can enjoy.

Thank You.[8D][tup][tup]

It’s always interesting to see what’s still currently out and up there, and what condition it’s in. So the content/ subject of the photos is worthwhile, regardless of the technical aspects.

As to that - I really like how you used the sun on the switchstand target to make it ‘pop’ out of the heavily shadowed background, which is never

Gorgeous!!!

…Nice mix of great {and very colorful}, photos Chris.

Is that 3’ gauge…?

(I’ve only got two thumbs, but they’re both up for each of those shots!)
