Some SORRy pictures

OK, I think I’ve finally figured out this photo thing (how can something that simple confuse me that much?)

Remember that none of the structures are yet complete. Also, since these were taken the walls have been repainted [;)]. Track still needs to be painted and ballasted. The base is just about 5’ high, so a lot of ground details (switch machines, terminals, etc.) will be easily hidden.

This is looking westbound, with the mainline tracks on the right (and the clock now removed.) The building in the forground is the Salt River Brewing Co. Here is the front view:

This shot shows (front-to-back) the local oil distributor, the meat packing plant and the building supply co., with the ice plant on the left.

That’s a start and I don’t want to hog the bandwidth. More later.

It may just be a start, but its a good start.

Good pics, glad to see you got the hang of it, dont worry about the bandwidth, post away, the more pics the better I always say.

Very Good start, don’t knock your work[8D].

This is the type of layout I’m building as I’m confined for space and your photos, are encouraging for me.

What are you using to support the layout? Is it “L brackets” like the white ones above or are you using something else?

Will you be using backdrops; such as the ones from Sceniking or Backdrop Warehouse? That will really add a nice, realistic dimensional depth to your railroad and its theme.

I think that the photography is good and it’s a great start…keep us informed as to your progress.

Who cares about photography, you’re a model RRer. Photos ain’t all that bad, but the layout work looks excellent.

Looks like a good start…Hope to see more…Cox 47

“What are you using to support the layout? Is it “L brackets” like the white ones above or are you using something else?”

In the 3rd picture, below the shelf on the far left, you can see part of the wooden bracket that supports 2 sides of my layout. These were built by my son, the carpenter, who did the benchwork for me. (The 3rd side, along the outside block wall of the room, has a 6" back, which is screwed into the blocks and supported for now by some pieces of lumber.)

L-Brackets would work, but I would go with the ones that have the diagonal brace, just for some more support.

Good luck with your project.

We all have to start somewhere, time money and space always seems to be a factor. Looks like your getting a good start. Good luck.[:)]

Thank you AL. You have solved my problem in how to share my layout space with my modelers work bench. I can now build the layout at 5 feet and and put the work bench under it along the wall. My garage remodeling and air conditioning is about complete so it won’t be too long before I finally get some track installed.
