As I got close to home tonight, around 5:30, saw a train stopped in town. This is really odd for this to happen (single track). So the nosey person I am drove on through town to see what was going on. As I got on the other side of town there was one state trooper, 2 city officers and a county officer escorting a man(hobo) from a boxcar to the awaiting cruiser. I turned around to get back home and they had just started to go through his belongings.
Thought I would share this with everyone here. Thought it was kind of funny with all the threads lately of that “one” person. Probably have to wait till next weeks paper comes out to know all the details. Got home to turn the scanner on and I guess all the excitement was over.
Brian, you ought to call the Enquirer’s Ky. office and either ask if they know about,
or tell them what you saw. Don’t guess you saw any NS officials there?
Some people just have to learn the hard way.
If we were so lucky,he wouldn’t be. The small town that Brian lives in,
DOES NOT put up with stuff and people like that. That is a Very
good town to live in.[^]
It seems that a town like that should have just let the guy keep riding out of town. Once they bust him they have to feed him, and when he’s out of jail they still have him hanging around town. I would NOT want my local police in on a bust like that, just as I don’t want them busting hitchhikers. Besides, you never know when you might have to hitchhike or catch a freight and you DON’T want some idiot cop putting you in jail for something like that. Let them catch some REAL criminals like the clowns who dropped the tower on the electric line near the old Milwaukee tracks between Chicago and Milwaukee.
Ok - in conjunction with this - I see some freights go through here, and there are more than just a couple, of open boxcar doors. I know doors should be shut when traveling; at least that is what I have been told. Doesn’t this just invite trouble? And why wouldn’t they be shut or is this like the open hopper, full coal car in an empty coal train, windshield wipers going full blast on helper, etc that I see through here on a regular basis. (and I only watch on weekends!)
The paranoid.
Those that have been led to believe they are unable to protect themselves.
Those living in locations where it is illegal to defend yourself.
Those that fear every noise they hear.
Those that fear everyone that doesn’t look and act exactly the same as them.
Those that get their world-view from television.
Donut makers.
Donut shop employees.
Lawyers.
Anyone who wants to leave their house and have a reasonable likelihood it will not be vandalized or robbed in their absence…
Anyone who needs assistance in an emergency and/or is physically incapacitated…
Anyone who decides to avoid potential lawyer action by having someone investigate noises in the night, or unexpected alarm triggerings, instead of coming downstairs cocked and unlocked and ready to rock…
Anyone who likes to drive on the public roads with some assurance that they won’t suffer wild speeding, drunk drivers, etc. for very long…
I could go on fairly extensively. But remember the old joke definition of a conservative: A liberal who’s been mugged. Interesting to see how the view of cops changes, for some people, when they suddenly find they want one.
I apologize in advance, of course, if this was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek (as I suspect it was).
I sure hope zardoz never finds himself (herself?) on the wrong end of a 45 caliber handgun in the hands of some scum on crack needing his/her fix…THEN you will really want a copy, ANY COP!
