I set up my USA Trains EMD F3 AB diesel train and when i have both engine (A) and (B) unit hooked up they will not move. when i just run the A unit it runs fine but this is not how it is supposed to be ran. both A and B units shoud run together. does anyone on here know what i am doing wrong or what i can do to make them run correctly. thanks…
USA? Large gauge? Is there a chance a wire is misconnected in ine of the units causing a short? Or causing the units to oppose each other?
Does the B-unit run by itself? If yes, continue, if not it needs to be repaired.
Does you power pack have enough power to run both of the units at the same time?
Sounds to me like a short circuit. Are both units powered? Will the B unit run alone?
[:-^] and without making any direction changes on your power pack, by setting each of the units on the track (SEPERATELY) do they move in opposite directions. If so one of them has their power leads crossed, and when placed together it is like they are in a TUG_O_WAR.
Johnboy out…
All valid points.
Did these every work, or is this a new set that you’ve never run before?
What happens if you turn the B unit around the other way? These trains may have one side of the electrical circuit from the track running through the chassis of the engines. If so, they may also have metal couplers connected to the chassis, and the couplers between the two units are shorting because there is a polarity difference between the two units.
