Something Fun - What If RRs sponsored race cars

I found this away ago and forgot I had them. Thought they be neat to try and find an old CART/Indycar model, some decals and try to actually paint one.

I did not create these images but found them on an website for fantasy race car paint schemes. Whoever did them did a get job of capturing the feel of the prototype paint job.

Just thought they were interesting.

My mind sometimes plays tricks on me. When I read your title I thought it said “What if the IRS sponsored racecars?”

Look at that number three car. Now there’s a tax I can get into.

I like the idea…it would be like any other sponsorship, and good PR, I would think.

What would happen if those who race trucks, the big tractors, sought sponsorship from railroads? Now, that would be something. [:-,]

Come to think of it (I hope I’m not drifting too much here…) what if UP had its own fleet of long haulers?

UP with its own fleet of long haulers? Maybe if the railroads had of got into long haul trucking we might not have so many fallen flags?..Cox 47

I’m suprised railroads haven’t considered that yet. I’ve seen a couple trucking company racecars and racetrucks in NASCAR’s craftsman truck series. I like that Norfolk Southern 00 car.

Railroads have considered that in the past, along with railroad owned bus and air lines. The government nixed all of it.

Well, they had to do something…didn’t they? [}:)] Seriously, both of our countries are still feeling the effects of government interference in railroading…gads, I’m drifting again!!!

Anyway, the railroads should sponsor sporting events of all kinds IMO, and race cars are right up there. That CP one is kinda cool.

The problem is, sponsorships are used to sell your product. The railroads can’t really pick up too much business from the general public. A NASCAR hood in CP colors would go nicely in my basement though!

Ever hear of Overnight Express? Owned by UP Industries!![:D]

The Last car would win…hands down.
