Received this tonight…Free!
Got most of the train set with it, the freight cars are toast, missing a bunch of wheels, but the loco runs, just needs some TLC
Giving it to Liam cause he needs a mainline steam locomotive.

How? <----- Said the Injun! [:^)]
Streamlined CN Hudson with Vandy tender?! SCORE!!
There’s a Yahoo group called Freecycle that is local to me. It allows people to give away things that are in decent to good shape that they don’t want/need anymore. No guarantee that you’ll receive the item in question though. Today I lucked out!
Someone advertised “Mini Chefs” Train set & I pounced on it…quickly!

Looks nice, but I wouldn’t call it streamlined…
[:D]
Anyway, it’s a really great find - amazing that it’s in such good condition and it was FREE!! At the train club that I go to, I got some Hobbyline PA units lettered for the Pennsy - nos. 2100 and 2200. For 60 year old trains, they’re in pretty good condition (some scratches and degraded decals), and after a repaint and some “glass” in the windows, they will be back in service.
Unfortunately, “free” does not always mean “good”. At said club, I also got an early HO Lionel engine (4-8-2 I think…) that was really beat up and missing the tender. And the smokebox front. And a handrail along one side. And a truck. Plus the side rods were rusted.
Still, It was good scrap box fodder.
Is that an old AHM or IHC locomotive? It looks nice; I love the green.
I have got to check out Freecycle. A friend recommended it, but I’ve not yet gotten around to it. Hopefully seeing what you got will encourage me to finally take a look.

That loco looks great!
It’s a “President’s Choice” locomotive from what was once a yearly train set that was available at Christmas time through a large supermarket. The loco itself is made by Mehano which needs some minor cosmetic work.

This one is a must do, makes all the difference
It is amazing how the proper enclosed cab changes the appearance.
Hey, Congrats! First time I saw a Mehano steam loco run, I thought it’s not fair that a “budget” locomotive should look as good as they do and run even better. Way better than Rivarossis. Bought 4 (moguls) on eBay since. Nice find Dan
