Somewhere to stay in Flagstaff w/ a view of the tracks?

I’m headed to Flagstaff in April. Does anyone know of accomodations in the area that have a view of the BNSF Transcon?
Thx -

try trackside motels at http://www.goeaston.net/~cahash/

My links seldom work, so you will probably have to copy and paste. I didn’t take the time to see if he has anything for Flagstaff.

Careful what you want, you might actually get it.

My son and I stayed in Flagstaff last March and stayed at a Best Western (DUMP) which is on the east side of town. It was actually ok, as we were only there from 10pm til 7am. The problem is the trains kept a rollin all night long, to borrow an Arrowsmith phrase.

There are plenty of spots in Flagstaff to stay at.

The reason we stayed at the Best Western is that it is behind the Crown Railroad Cafe, which is absolutely the place to eat at in Flagstaff. Lots of railroad signage and a model train running around the top of the dining room, but it the view you want. While eating breakfast there were four trains that passed.

We are passing on going to AZ this year on spring break and I am already thinking I should reconsider. Lots of neat areas around Flagstaff for watching trains, if you want some info let me know.

make a trip to winslow and stay at the LA POSADA. THE OLD HARVEY HOUSE IS GREAT WITH 6 TRACKS AT THE BACK DOOR

Didja see a girl in a flatbed Ford?

I personally like the Holiday Inn Express in Flagstaff. Nice hotel with a good view of the tracks from some of the rooms.

We stayed in a Holiday Inn on the East side of Flagstaff in October 1993. We had a room in the back on the 5th floor in the middle of the building, and we got a good view of the tracks. If you stay anywhere near the BNSF tracks don’t expect to get too much sleep because the BNSF has a lot of traffic, and there are several grade crossings near the motel so you can’t avoid hearing the trains blowing for the crossings.

I would reccomend the Days Inn on Route 66, nowhere near the Eastside of town, where it’s really sketcky nowdays. It’s on West Route 66, and the train tracks are on the hill behind the hotel. A nice quiiet place to stay, without all the ruckus of drunks, and drug addicts on East Route 66.

That’s the only place that I would suggest.

I guess I was on the wrong side of town. Didnt encounter any people problems but the trains kept me up all night.

The next time out there we will stay at Little America Resort. Have been there twice and it is a nice place. It is about a mile or so from the tracks, but there will be plenty of trains running during the day.

What a great town.

I basically grew up there, it’s my home. yeah the Eastside is really dubious, but around where Little America is at, that is a nice area. You can also get a better quality room near the freeway, and still take a drive downtown to watch the trains go by at the train station.

I personally didn’t like the Little America, the service was great, but the beds were way too soft. I kept having dreams that I was drowning. Then again I am more comfortable sleeping on the floor.

I’ve always stayed at the Best Western Pony Soldier Inn. I stay in the suite, and have a decent view of the tracks. There is a crossing nearby, so be warned. The trains roll by and blow for the crossings all night long.

The suite has three beds, two rooms, and two TVs. Plenty of room to relax. It’s always been clean. No complaints.
