Greetings,
I had the opportunity to be a part of chartered Photographers Special with Soo Line #1003 a 2-8-2 Mikado along with a Soo Line Cupola Caboose. The chartered train ran on April 22-25th on the Wisconsin & Southern lines out of Horicon, WI. The photo locations were pre-selected and multiple run-bys were made at each location. About 40 photographers were a part of the group. Below are some photos from the weekend.

The sun rises on Soo #1003 as it crosses the causeway on Beaver Dam Lake just south of Fox Lake, WI

#1003 passes over a small bridge in a marsh just east of Randolph, WI

A Goose decides not to hang around as #1003 steam past a backwater pond on Beaver Dam Lake.

An old pier on the pond doesn’t mind #1003 steaming behind

The must have 3/4 roster shot run-by with #1003

Soo #1003 steam past some not so fair water in Fairwater, WI

What year is this again ?? With the cooperation of some local car collectors a flashback crossing shot at Red Cedar Road north of Burnette, WI

Stuck by a train in the year 19??. A little help from Photoshop and some classic equipment.
Enjoy,
Keith
Spectacular shots! A Mike hauling freight. I think that must be the quintessence of steam railroading. Thanks for sharing!

Awesome. Thanks for the Photos!!!
A steam engine & a caboose ?
They’re on the endangered species list,right ?
Great Shots !!!
Those hoppers make a more plausible old time train than the per diem boxcars that were behind the 1003 in its similar photo excursion trips last November. That old wood caboose is a nice feature.
Dave Nelson
Thanks for the nice comments. Dave, agreed the hopper cars looked much better than those box cars in November and the caboose is a great ending.
Keith
Keith,
Are you planning on any of these being offered on CD at your site? Get any video? I plan on ordering some of the other 1003 photos from November sometime soon, and if you do offer some of these, I’d probably order some of them too.
Noah
Noah,
Yes I shot about 3hrs worth of video from this trip. I am just starting to go through it. I hope to get it down to about an hours worth of video on DVD. Email me when your ready and we can work something out.
Also watch for Soo #1003 to be a part of the WSOR 25th Anniversary celebrations this summer.
