Checked Walthers kits, one old DPM style model old style with vegs outside,Fresh Market # 785-5110, not sure on walthers number, one Aldi style nearly like one PC Foods in Granville, IL. , “Fresh Market” search, Aldi is Faller, #272-232204, “Market” can find. The Aldi one is a bit smaller than the one we have in Granville, has more glass windows on the front. corner entrance parking on the West and South sides, parking for 6 cars including handycapped next to market front (south) side, maybe 10 on the other side of drive, delivery door/ramp near back for 50 ft trailer along east side, two rows of cars on the West side. The Aldi is smaller. Then 40 ft or 17 ft box on truck would have been about right for '50’s.
Remembering a market my folks and I went to in Highland Park, Los Angeles, it would have been a bit larger, entrances, parking on both sides, rear side delievery door dock. 1 or two rows for cars on either side, several more aisles inside, larger produce section, So. California. About right size, the other market I recalled was a Shopping Bag or Market Basket in Puente, about 3 miles from home before a new Food Giant, Thrifty’s Drug, and Grants, 5 & Dime. Bank of America, etc. other stuff went in after 2-3 years 3/4 mile away, We had one car, mom did not drive until '59. Before we went to Crawfords, El Monte 5 Points, near Stan’s Drive-in, Uncle John’s pancake House, Pep Boys, Western Auto, ect. Our subdivison was in Farmland. but when the market/shopping went in, about 3/4 mile from home, milk was home delivery, bread truck, Helms Bakery & Golden Crust Bakery had bread qnd donuts, raised, cake, and duelling ice cream trucks tooting or dinging down the street, A grocery bus went down one block up after school
I will need to make a market for my layout, and some tract homes, 3 bedrooms den, 2 car garage, stucco, 2 baths, 1 full, one 3/4 with shower. We moved out of LA in '55, tiny house
