I have a Trix ICE-3 train and would like to install a sound decoder+spkr. The basic set is Trix Nr. 22560 which has an 8 pin plug, circuit board, & motor all located in the middle (restaurant) car. Has anybody bought or installed a decoder and speaker in one of these? I’ll have to run the speaker wires to an adjacent car as there isn’t a good location in the same car for the speaker. The newer version that does come with sound (Trix 22205) also has the motor and circuitboard in the middle car. Is the speaker also in this car? I haven’t had any luck in the past , getting tech. help from the folks in New Berlin. Thanks - Steve
I’d guess the new model has all the electronics in the same car - if the Fleischmann units I’ve seen are anything to go by they can find a space for a speaker by making it an unusual shape. Have you tried contacting Trix directly? most German firms have a few English speakers on the staff and will be willing to help, they may be able to point you towards an assembly diagram for your model and the sound-equipped one so you can compare the differences. Sorry I can’t be much more help.
Hi Matt, I probably will give Germany a call for both Trix and Fleischmann. Thanks - Steve.
Steve, if you have trouble contacting Trix because of the German involved, I´d offer to translate your questions for you and mail them to Trix. (I´ll also transate the answer if you want me to…)
Kiel, thanks a lot for the offer of help. Even when I have contact number, sometimes I can’t even get by the initial phone menu because the options are spoken too fast to understand.
