I’d have sworn i saw a thread about the Rivarrossi Allegheny being available with sound some time soon but for the life of me can’t locate it…or was I seeing things!!
Anyone else seen a thread like that?

Here’s the one I brought up a little while ago.
If you decide to do it yourself, I am very pleased with a Tsunami I put in mine.

[#ditto]Heavy Steam Tsunami and with a Whistle that will knock your socks off! I’ll be ripping the MRC decoder out of my Athearn Challenger and putting in a Heavy Tsunami in it as well

I just bought a H8 Allegheny 2-6-6-6 from First Hobby online. I plan on installing a Tsunami heavy steam decoder in it later this year. A couple of days ago I installed a Digitrax DH 123 PS decoder in it that I had bought for another loco.
What I want to know is how would you mount the speaker? And what speaker is best for this installation?
Would you relocate the board that the decoder is mounted to and drill holes in the bottom of the tender and mount the speaker there?
Any suggestions?
Bill
Mounting the speaker on the tender floor gives you a warmer, richer sound compared to mounting the speaker upwards. If possible use 2 speakers ( two 4 ohm speakers in series, two 8 ohm speakers in series, or two 16 ohm speakers in parallel). The difference is worth it.
Is the Tsunami “Heavy Steam” a good sound match for this locomotive? I notice that they don’t appear to list any C&O-specific arrangements or whistles. With only 2 inoperative H-8’s in existence, I know nothing out there will be an exact match.
Since Walthers is now importing the H-8 with DCC and sound (ESU Loksound), which is more accurate for the H-8? I don’t see anything close to the H-8 on ESU’s site (I am assuming they will use the Big Boy sound?)
Regardless, the Tsunami comes with an integral locomotive decoder, correct? You should only have to mount it with some aftermarket speakers (vice using an additional decoder from another manufacturer). Same with Loksound. If not going the sound route, how does the NCE decoder work with this locomotive?
