I’m looking at putting the Micro Tsunami’s in the Bachmann climax and shay. I know it would be pretty tight in the climax. I saw a post on the Bachmann site about the install, good info. The shay looks fairly straight forward but if anyone can offer tips (i.e. speaker size and location, removal of the existing board, use of connectors, etc) or photo’s for either install it would be appreciated.
Right now you have a shay that isnt working (as you have mentioned on your other thread). If you cannot trouble shoot why the loco isn’t working, there is no way on God’s green earth that you will be able to properly install a TSU750 into either of these locos. It requires you removing the exsisting pc board, determining which black wire is which (they are not color coded) and finding room for the decoder, speaker, baffle and capacitor (Soundtraxx says that the cap is optional, trust me, it isnt).
I am a professional installer, and I have done about a dozen of each install. They are tight and not a good first or near-first install.
Actually, regarding the inop Shay, I was trying to ping the community and not reinvent the wheel. Since my hobby time is fairly scarce I thought if someone had the same issue and can give me a few quick ideas to try to save time I would.
Now on to the decoders, I feel that I am fairly competent in modeling but do know when to cry uncle. I will see if it is within my skill level/time available and then send it to you anyway…
