Sound Transit sets ridership records

Why is it that no one comments on articles that report increased ridership, but a ‘chosen’ few always comment when an article mentions a new expansion of existing commuter lines, or new ones proposed, and laments the cost and who will pay for it. When you depreciate the cost of rails, stations, and train sets over the useful life of 20-50 years, and how many passengers use the service it makes just as much sense as building more roads which are usually obsolete by the time they are completed. It’s like if they don’t ride the commuter rails why should they pay for it. Hate to tell them that they are paying for a lot of roads that they’ll never drive on either.

With ridership going up, it might be well to at least look into expansion of service.
