Sound Transit to open University Link extension this weekend
Amazing to hear of a government funded project to finish ahead of schedule and under budget! Kudos to Seattle and the project management crew! One question: what happens to the $150 million that was probably awarded to the project and is now not used? Is it available to fund further system expansion or what?
Good question. I did read it would need to be returned. But then I heard perhaps it could be applied to the next extension. IN ANY CASE, opening day was wonderful. We are starting to have a largely grade-separated line, some of which could now be considered a subway. Eight minutes from downtown to the UW, unheard of!
