Source for DPDT & PB Switches

I had wired up my “N” scale outlet for common rail wiring using Atlas Controller / Selectors etc. I’ve been told this is a no-no for future DCC control. So where is the place to get the switches. I checked out the Shack tonight. DPDT center off toggles were around $5.00 each. N.O. Pushbuttons are (2) for $3.49, but I wonder about their long term reliability. So what do you suggest ? Thanks, Dave

Dave,
Check out Jameco.com, Mouser.com or Digikey.com
Jameco had DPDT for less than $1.40 ea in quantities of 10 and PB’s were $1.19ea, quantities of ten.

Ditto. The Mouser catalog alone has more types of switches then you could ever use. Radio Shack is ok if you need one in a hurry, but to completely wire up a large-ish railroad, it will cost more than a few locomotives to buy all the switches and other electrical parts at the Shack.

[#ditto]. I use Digikey. They are fast and the price is right.

Miniatronics is about half the price of the “Shack”, however the S/H is $8.00.

Check http://www.allelectronics.com for all types of switches at surplus prices.

I think that the best place is Digi-Key. They have a great catalog full of cool stuff.

these guys have really cheap prices and quality toggles…real fast service too…most of the stuff i’ve ordered has arrived at the end of the week… http://www.partsexpress.com/

Marked. Always good to have more sources.

Thanks for all the replies. For now Ebay was the winner. I got 20 DPDTCO Switches plus 40 Pushbuttons for $25 with shipping. If I had bought that all at the shack it would have been at least $100. Can’t wait to get them and start wiring. Dave
