Source of plans using standard dimensional lumber

Does anyone know of a book or website which offers plans for buildings in HO scale using standard dimensional lumber that is readily available at lumber yards and home improvement stores? Thanks!

Okay, I’ll bite. Is your intention to build a 1:1 structure using plans for an HO scale model? Or, are you looking to whittle down a 2x4 to get enough pieces to construct an HO scale model?

Railroad Model Craftsman Aug 09 issue has an article about building structures out of blocks of wood. It needs to be cut and shaped, but they have several buildings done that way. I suppose you could build any building that way, but it would be heavy, have very thick walls or not have an interrior, depending on how you built it. Any building you have the real dementions of can be reduced to 1/87 its size and made to HO scale.

Interesting concept for low cost buildings.

Have fun,

I am also a little confused at what your seeking but if I am not mistaken your looking to buy wood in your local big box store that equivalent to lets say an HO scale 4x4, 2x4 etc.? Such as they sell small pieces of trim etc. in those places. Well your not even going to get in the ball park there. If I am on the same page go to your LHS or follow the links for Midwest Products I listed below and they have scale dimensional lumber as well as a gage for measuring wood to tell you what size it is in a particular scale.

The following link to Northeastern Scale Lumber show all nominal sizes for scale HO lumber. Browze their site, they offer quite a variety of other scatch building supplies as well.
