Source of poly fiber mesh for trees

Hi,

I have been reading many archived posts and articles about using polyfiber mesh for trees and ground cover. Can anyone tell me what I should be looking for in home depot or some place to find this material. I have not had much luck locating it.

Thanks,

Kevin Coyle

I buy the polyfiber made by Woodland Scenics. I have found it at my LHS and at Hobby Lobby for about $2.75 a bag.

Hi,

I checked my LHS first and they do not have it. The articles that I read seemed to indicate that they got from some place else, but never specified names or such.

Actually, black quilt batting works great, and you can get a life-time supply (enough for a king-sized bed quilt) for $20.

Tear off a small piece, then stretch and pull it out into a see-through ball you can use as foliage netting on your tree armature. Then spray the netting with cheap superhold hair spray and sprinkle on coarse ground foam.

Easy as can be and you can make a layout full of trees for about what it costs for one night out to dinner and a movie these days. [swg]

Wal-mart, K-mart, or similar “big box” store that sells sewing and quilting supplies. Look for quilt stuffing. It will probably be white but can be spray painted whatever color you need.

I find it at Micheals and my local fabric outlet. I ask for polyfiber and someone always knows where it is.

Hi,

Thanks for the info.

Some types of old pillows suffice as well…John

That sounds like a perfectly sensible solution. The only caveat, for me, is that I would not want the microscopic mites that live in our beds and bedding spread all over my layout.
