Can anyone tell me where I can find bulk rail for G scale?
What Code (197, 215, 250, 332?) and which material (alu, brass, nickelsilver, stainless steel)?
332, brass, or aluminum.
ME used to have 332 aluminum is 6’ lengths.
Check with them.

Hi,
ME = Micro Engineering (no website) Phone 636-349-1112 FAX 636-349-1180
according to the last info I have they still have it in the product line.
LGBoA has Code332 brass rail in 5ft sections (1500mm)
LGB produces 3 meter (9.8 foot)lengths of rail. Product number 10006.
They do!?!
How is that shipped to Canada???
Call your local LGB Authorized Retailer and I’m sure they will be more than happy to make arrangements for you.
thye cut it up into 3 foot, 2-3/4" lengths…
Thanks folks,
I’ve been looking at a number of sites that have hand laying parts, and pieces, and it seems strange that the none of the listed sites I have found show any bulk rail. They list ties, switch kits, throws, tools, everything else “but track”. Seems like if they sell everything for hand laying track, that one of the main things they would list, is rail.
Kind of like a car dealer that sells cars, without the wheels. The one doesn’t do much good with out the other.[(-D]
Hi Jack,
Hmmmmm, not that I need any right now, but my two authorized Canadian LGB sources - who have just received the new price list from you guys - tell me that 10006 isn’t listed. It goes from 10005 (5ft rail sections) straight to 10007 Road Crossing track.
As I said, I don’t need any right now, but usually I know what’s “new and exiting”, even mundane things like Code332 track in 3m sections.
I’m certainly interested to hear where the price point sits vis a vis the LEBU track. [;)][:)][;)] You never know what customers will ask you.
Welllllllllllll,
Most of the people who sell the supplies also have rail, alas in smaller Code sizes. Generally speaking people who handlay track prefer the smaller rail since they’re after a particular look.
Now if you tell us which mfgs you’re referring to, we may be able to tell you “yes” or “no”. OTOH it doesn’t matter if you get part of the supplies from one source and the rest from elsewhere i.e. you may prefer a spike that is serrated over one that is smooth and stainless. Same goes for rail clamps versus joiners etc. etc.
It all depends what you’re after. BTW as far as I’ve read even alu rail is not created equal i.e. some compositions are a lot tougher than others (haven’t tried that, but TOC can fill you in!).
“thye cut it up into 3 foot, 2-3/4” lengths…"
No that would be item number 10005 (1.5m sections)
LGB sells both!
They may have the rail…but they don’t list it in the price lists, or catalogs, of “any” size rail.
I find mail order an extreme pain in the caboose to begin with. Having to order stuff from several different places, just to do one thing, is enough to make me say “to Hell with the whole thing”. It’s one reason I buy almost everything I get from the LHS. I know I pay more than I would if I mailordered it, but it’s worth it to me not to have to deal with the aggravation. I go in, get what I need off the shelf. If they don’t have it, I have “Them” order it. I they can’t get it, I usually do without. The hobby is supposed to be pleasure, not work.
The whole point is, if they sell it, it should be listed on the web site. They miss alot of sales by not listing it. If it’s not listed, then I’m sure not going to waste a phone call to be told they don’t have it.
And “Yes”, I’m an impaitent, grumpy old fart! [:D]

Dave,
Perhaps it needs to be cut to 59" in order to make it across the border.[;)][:D][:D]
I don’t know…I ship 72" Llagas up to the GWN with no problems.
See that “must ship by truck” deal?
Imagine how much THAT is gonna cost to get it to yer igloo!

Hi Dave,
Yep, 72" is apparently OK. The Code215 track I use comes from Ontario in that length.
Go figure!
You can get some good deals on ebay
