what an incomplete article! is there a direct rail line from port of Charleston to the Spartanburg airport area? and how many miles is this ‘shuttle’ run?

The toll hogs who operate the Palmetto Expressway have got to havethis project under their thumb. Why plug up I-26 for 100 miles? Why not build the intermodal port closer to the shipyard?

I agree with the other comments - this seems totally stupid to me. Makes no sense what so ever. There is NOT a direct rail line from Charleston to Spartanburg, which means trucks will have to haul one container at a time from point to point. An additional 50,000 trucks a YEAR using I-26 is incomprehensible.

This will be a rail link from Charleston to the Greenville/Spartanburg Airport area. Wick Moorman of Norfolk Southern will be in Greer on Sept 18th to make the announcement.

“There is NOT a direct rail line from Charleston to Spartanburg”

Norfolk Southern SC-Line: Charleston to Columbia.
Norfolk Southern W-Line: Columbia to Spartanburg.
It is almost a straight line, approximately 220 rail miles!
