Yep, only in Mexico would you try to pull the truck out of the mud with the train. Things looked a little dangerous at times but it doesn’t really matter because there are not many lawyers down there.
When the track is blocked and a locomotive is available - it gets done all the time. Of course using a chain that is up to the task is a prerequisite for a successful outcome. The piddling little chain that was connected to the locomotive would have snapped using a truck as the pulling power, if the truck had had normal dry road traction.
