I know for a fact that this and several other classes of 2-8-0 were delivered with extra cab windows which were subsquently plated over at a date which i’ve been unable to determine.
I model 1927 and have aquired suitable kitbashing specimens which have the extra cab windows, should I or should I not plate them over?
It depends. I’ve seen pictures of (relatively old) SP steam with the forward cab window still in place as late as the early 1930’s although it was very rare by then. Personally, if it were me, I’d plate the window over as most SP steam that originally had the forward windows had them plated over during the 1920’s.
