Does anyone know if Southern Pacific had Texas (2-10-4)types on their railroad?
If they did what were the numbers of the locomotives?
SP 3691 went thru Dallas back in 1949
and SSw had some steam also dont know #s[8D]
also a cab forward in houston 1948 # 4274
According to the Guide to North American Steam Locomotives by George H. Drury, the SP didn’t have any Texas types. The closest thing they had was the 4-10-2 Southern Pacific type, a three-cylinder compound monster.
Neither the SP or SSW had 2-10-4 types. SP had mamy 2-10-2’s and the 4-10-2’s mentioned. SSW had 4-8-2’s and 4-8-4’s as their biggest steam.
