Southwestern Pennsylvania Railroad maps

Hi all,

I usually post over on the modeling site, but I’ve got a prototype question for you. I am looking to build an HO layout based on coal railroading in Southwestern PA and northern West Virginia. I am looking for a railroad map from the 1930s-50s in the area of Fayette county, PA. to include the town of Masontown (PA.) I live in Michigan so I can’t easily get to the area to pick up any reference material and have found it a nightmare to try to find on-line. Any idea for a good source? I’d like to see a map that included all roads operating there at the time, that would at least be a start. I’d like to try and capture the area where my grandpa grew up during the 30s. Thanks so much! ----Rob

quickest/easiest is a Steam Powered Video RR Atlas of Penna. they are fairly accurite and show most old lines including abandoned/merged…another sorce i use is the Library of Congress website…they have numorous RR maps from the early 1800 to around 1930…i have the link but need to find it…let me know or if someone else has the link…
