[SP] - info on Coast Line 1970s

Hi All,

I’m modeling a small portion of the SP Coast Line set in the 1970s, but I live some 10,000 miles and 25 years away from it.

thanks to some nice guys I have collected info and photos of yards and industries. I still need some info about the Guadalupe yard. I know there are some structures close to the yard, some served by rail.

was the Simplot elevator in service in the early 1970s? was it served by rail, too? was the Apio building there? I know Apio started business with this name in 1979… but, what about before?

thanks in advance.

Those are going to be difficult questions to answer. I will look through “Southern Pacific Coast Line” by John Signor, but I do not think that type of information is in there.

Denny, don’t know if you’re aware of this, but you might try here: http://www.smvrhm.org/morden.html

They’ve got a model of the Guadalupe yard being built.

Andre

Eric, Andre,

I have John Signor’s book, but there’s not much info on Guadalupe.

Also, I’m keeping in touch with Bruce Morden (author of the page of the link you metioned) who’s been very kind sending me pictures and info. though he provided me invualuable material to work on, he doesn’t have all the info I asked him about the 1970s. however he told me he will ask people at SMVRR historical museum if they know about this.

thank you both!
