SP-PE North Hollywood Depot

You didn’t say what scale it is?? (HO, N, O?)

Hi Dennis,
I believe the kit is HO scale

This looks very interesting. I’ll refeer it to my friend. I think he’ll like this kit.

The kit is made in HO scale. I painted my model in the SP structure gray color scheme as was in late 1950s when the depot was used only as a freight station.

Looks pretty nice.

I thought the company only made N-scale structures. Does the company have a website?

I like the old buildings better than new, We are losing to much Americana.

When/where will this kit be available? I checked the Showcase Miniatures website and found no information about it… The prototype structure is not far from my home!

I’m not sure why, but the SP-PE North Hollywood Depot is not listed in “Southern Pacific Lines, Pacific Lines Stations Volume 1,” published by the Southern Pacific Historical & Technical Society. From the photos, the station appears to be a modified version of SP’s Standard Station No. 23 (i.e., it appears that the end of the loading dock is roofed over). Photos and plans of SP’s Standard Station No. 23 appear in the “Railroad Station Planbook,” published by Kalmbach Books. Incidentally, American Model Builders has produced a similar laser kit.

It is a pity that no price is mentioned - and oddly it is not listed yet on their website as either an existing produce or a forthcoming one. Its size at 22 inches long sunds intimidating but I think I need to find a home somewhere on my modular layout for it at some stage.

I lived very near this station as a child and youth. Used to play around the area. It looks very close to the real thing although I haven’t seen it in a long time. Congratulations for making a little known depot. Hard to rate the product from just the picture.

Very nice i will add this to my SP railroad.

The North Hollywood Depot is located at the intersection of Lankershim and Chandler Blvds. It is directly across from the North Hollywood Metro Rail Station.

Very, Very nice it is look a similar Depot on the Brasilian Railroad called Carajás Railroad on the north of the Brazil. Just to inform you this Railroad it is 900 Km long, it is start on S. Luis City of Maranhão State ( Itaqui Port) and goes through the
Amazon forest up to Carajás Mountain. On this Mountain there are Iron Mine that the VALE Company extract and export to the world. I am signalling enginner and I worked very hard through those 900 Km on 1986 to implementation the Signalling System on this Railroad.

This kit looks very nice. If I had a semi permanent layout I would find a place for it. I may consider buying it anyway so I have on hand when I get a layout going. I would like to see a few more external details like awnings and sign options but this is not a deal breaker. Very nice.
