SP When? Black Widows, Daylights, Bloody Noses

How long did the daylight scheme on PA’s and E’s last?
How about black widows?
And when did the scarlet and grays come out?
I would like to find a time when all of these coexisted, maybe early to mid sixties? Thanks,

The ‘Daylight’ scheme was used on Passenger trains - steam, then diesel…
The ‘Black Widows’ were ‘F’ freight engines replacing steam.

The ‘Bloody Nose’ scheme was diesel & replaced both. Preceeded and suceeded SP-SF Merger ('72-74?)

Dates will have to come from those more knowledgable than I.
“Same time”? - might depend on the period, motor pool, and repainting dates. late 60’s - early 70s.

The “Bloody Nose” scheme came into being in 1958 (http://espee.railfan.net/58_91.html),

By the way, the SPSF merger attempt was around 1985.

The black widow scheme lasted into the early 70s. I saw a BW Cotton Belt GP9 in the Fall of '72.

There was also an experimental scheme in 1958 that railfans called the halloween scheme: Orange and Black and very rare.

So I guess my question now is, how long did the daylight scheme last on diesels and passenger cars? 1960? 61? I want to model a time when the sunset silver and red cars were run with the daylight streaminers. Being pulled by F’s PA’s or E’s in Blackwidow, Red and Gray, or Daylight. I want a time where i can model all SP color schemes to an extent. BTW, does anyone know of any good Coast Daylight websights? Thanks again, Ben

For SP-specific topics, I recommend the website at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Espee/. Black widow and daylight-colored locomotives continued after the Bloody nose scheme until the equipment was repainted.
