The learning curve for Empire Express on the Mac is not immense but really quite short and easy, especially because it is based on the Mac techniques. The current version does have some Atlas and Peco, but I cannot comment on their accuracy, because I have been using Walthers/Shinohara Code 83. The curved W/S turnouts are not exactly accurate (close, though!) because W/T overstates their divergent radii (I have furnished correct radii in previous posts), so I drew my own images to use in the program. It wasn’t difficult; if you are interested, I can e-mail you a copy. I believe that you will find it worth your while.

Thanks. I’ve downloaded the program again to mess around with it a bit. I really think my mind just doesn’t work well in the digital vein, but I’m willing to try again. If I find I’m enjoying the process and getting somewhere, I’ll contact you and take you up on your kind offer. I’m finishing up a rather intense advanced diving course at the moment and squeezing M.R.ing in in the meanwhile.
