use the center of the cork roadbed as your centerline for the track…on straight track a good rule is 2" center to center and in curves a 21/2" center to center will work…so to answer your question keep the two roadbeds separated by a 2" or 21/2" distance between the centers of the cork roadbed…chuck[:D]
That asumes you are modeling in HO. Never assume anything!!! space tangent track ceners 13-16 scale feet. I space mine 15 scale feet in yards to allow a little extra finger room.
