Tombo (and any others running PS-1 under DCS). I charged up the battery and let my Alco PA Santa Fe PS-1 stretch its legs after resting since last Xmas. Not having any luck getting SQUEALING BRAKES to initiate with the Bell button, though. Here’s what I did:
Using the DCS handheld, press S5 until “MPG” appears above S1. Scroll to desired feature (Squealing Brakes = 45), press thumbwheel. Press S5 (Done) and the TIU should auto pulse 45 times, ending with the correct 9 “Clanks”. Now press the whistle button until you hear just ONE clank (per the instruction manual) and you should be able to fire the brakes each time you press the BELL button on the handheld. All I get is the bell…
Can someone try this and let me know how you made out? I’m wondering if there has to be a min/max track voltage present…or if I’m programming it wrong.
Hey Tombo - tell Mr. Eagles this is waaaay above his intelligence level and not to even think about trying it…(wink)

Hey Jim, Great to here from you. I will have to check on resting a PS1 with DCS hand held. It has been a while sence I have do it. You could away do it the old fashon way, reset 18. 18 times from 6 volts to 18 volts then pu***he whistle button.
BTW - Chief had by-pass surgery last week, (6 of them)

A DUDA sighting!!! Very rare. I out did you!!! 6 bypasses. About time you showed your self. [:D]
Hey Jimbo, are you sure that is a PS1 engine and not a PS2 [?]
Tombo - I’m ABSOLUTELY positive it’s a PS-1. Luckily, it’s not one that’s subject to chip scrambling, but I charged the batt before I fired it up, just to be sure. Feature 18 won’t help - that gets you back to factory defaut which is Auto Brake Squeal which means that every time you go more than 14 volts and back below 8 volts, they squeal…but I don’t want that - I want them to squeal every time I hit the Bell button, regardless of voltage.
Chiefie…I’ve had more bypasses than that, but mine are all BRAIN bypasses…that’s why I’m so dumb!

Hey there Big Jim. Good to hear from you again.
Garden RR is running and hope to have it decorated for Christmas so I can show the Chief how we run in the snow.
Jim, I will look it up tomorrow night.

Hi Jim, where’ve you been hiding? I’ve missed my favorite student. [swg] Today’s question is a little out of my league, so I’ll defer to professor Spanky.[;)]
Professor - I’ve been restoring my 1965 Honda S90 motorcycle that I bought new way back then. I wanna ride it around the neighborhood one last time before I cash in…
Buckster…the only thing Chiefie knows how to run in the snow is his POS snowblower…put a plow on the front of your train and send him the picture!!! I hope that bypass stuff makes him a lot cuter!!!

Jim, I am not at home now, so not sure, but try this.
Do the same as you did, but after the set 45, and one clink, press the whistle button to set it, then turn it off.
See if this works.
