Speaker for Bachmann 2-8-4 & Athearn 2-8-2

I want to buy two of these http://www.trainsetsonly.com/page/TSO/PROD/STX-820112 for my Athearn 2-8-2 & Bachmann 2-8-4. What speakers would go good with these locos. Also, do I need anything else?

I assume you are talking about HO scale.

I have several of the Soundtraxx LC decoders in HO and diesel locomotives. A good rule of thumb is to use the largest speaker you can get into the space available. In my steamers, some of which are Bachmann 4-8-4s, I installed a 1.1 inch dia. speaker and enclosure from Tony’s. Using a properly sized enclosure is important.

There is usually plenty of room in an HO tender for a speaker and a decoder. Diesels are another matter.
