The article says that the vehicle got trapped between the crossing arms. So, instead of driving the van through a crossing arm and breaking it, the logical decision is to allow the train to demolish the van. (sarcasm)
Nevertheless, those kids were lucky. My prayers are with them for a speedy and full recovery.
