Special Iowa Interstate paint scheme revealed

Very nice. My only suggestion is white lettering per Rock Island colors!

There has been some griping about its appearance in other forums, but I suspect that it will come across much better when viewed from a conventional angle. Kudos to the Iowa Interstate for acknowledging the heritage of their line.

No mistaking who owns that locomotive.

Now if they could get anywhere close to the speeds of the 1950’s.

Couldn’t they just bring back the CRIP name while they’re at it?

Beautiful! Now how about one in blue and white? Oh. I know it’s not as popular as the older schemes, but for some of us, it’s The Rock we remember.

It’s been suggested that this isn’t a true heritage locomotive like 513, because if it was, the speed lettering would be in white and read “ROCK ISLAND.” Rather, it’s a 30th anniversary of the IAIS tribute paint job. I also wouldn’t mind seeing one in blue and white, but I understand the negative connotations that might stir up.

Actually it has started to grow on me. Only change I would have done is to do the Side Lettering in White instead of yellow. Kudo’s to IAIS for stepping out and doing something different. I am sure I will get into it more when I spot it out on the Railroad!

Great Job, IAIS!

This unit indeed has a dynamic paint scheme that in my opinion gives a nod toward the Iowa State University Cyclone team colors. I like the paint job, but I contend this is not really a Heritage Unit paint scheme as it does not conform to nor suiggest previous Rock Island RR paint scheme motifs. Call me out on this if you think I’m wrong. Still, I think the unit’s paint is unique, photogenic and sets a new precident fort paint scemes in general. However, as an SUI fan I must declare “How 'Bout Them Hawks!”. As such a fan, I have decided to dub this unit the “Frank’s RedHot Express”, hopefully not recieving karma from previous versions of the Rock Island Rocket. Comments? Bring It On, cyclones!

I love taking pics of IAIS because they keep their engines meticulously clean. No dirty Armour Yellow.

First impression: Wow that’s bold. Second: I like it! Third: Go Cyclones!

If they’re going for ISU colors, then they did ok. If they’re trying to do a Rock heritage unit, they missed the mark.
