Run her more often or sell her to someone who will. I would love to see 4960 back in Burlington country!
if only they run her more often.
I agree with you Landon Rowell its a insulting to her CB&Q heritage she has to sit there and do nothing.

I agree Landon it’s a insulting to her CB&Q heritage to force her to sit and not run that much.

Poor planning on the Williams station to not give more time for this excursion. But, on a happy note…I took the Steamer to the Grand Canyon in 2007. It was FUN!!
What the lake superior and ishming 2-8-0 29. Is chop liver? And what about Spoken Portland and Seattle 2-8-2 539 also chop liver?
Is the 4960 the only one left??? I didn’t,t think she was… But I could be wrong. Still what a shame to be having FOUR RUNNING steamers to ONLY… ONE.

Notice of the Cataract Rambler trips on June 14 and 15 have appeared on the GCR website for quite sometime.
Many problems here. Has anyone ever heard of PLANNING. This comes out with less than 2 weeks notice - and you have to get tickets at the station on a first come, first serve basis.
Williams ius not large enough to support this kind of idiocy, so tourists could/should bring money in, Can they make it any HARDER to support this activity ???
Three things to discuss: 1) Keith Clark is right. GCRY announced these trips months ago. This isn’t anything new. 2) To those complaining that it’s “insulting” to use the locomotive as little as they do: it’s still being used on a fairly regular basis on public trips, which we should be thankful for. If you don’t like it, offer to buy it and run it more often yourself. If you can’t do either of those, please, for the love of god, shut your trap. 3) Joseph Newstead, I don’t know what exactly you mean by “chopped liver” when referring to locomotives, but 29 and 539 are still in possession of GCRY. 539 is on display at Williams, and 29 is on display at Grand Canyon. If you don’t like it, make an offer to buy and restore one or both. If you can’t do that… I can’t believe I’m about to defend GCRY here, but Xanterra Parks and Resorts has made it clear for almost a decade now that they are only interested in minimal steam operations. If you don’t like it, stop giving them money. Or offer to buy the company. ANYTHING is better than moaning in the discussion every time this railway is mentioned. Seriously. This kind of stuff is why railfans have a bad reputation.
