Special train to NASCAR race being studied

Rare-mileage freaks, freak out!
“mostly freight-only prior to…Amtrak,” is a halfway to China subterranian under statement.
My engr’s seniority was born this "road. No psgr service existed that I learned of, observed or heard of, between Suisun-Fairfield and Sears Point for at least 70 years,
There was in the early 21st century a train of the MicroSoft founder’s freinds that went to Napa.
There was an officer’s special I fired that was deadheading office cars that carried quail hunters int the Redwood Empire. The Rails from Suisun to Sear’s Point…in the 1960’s.
Even in the antiseptic environs of the Caltrain coaches look thru the windows and enjoy the Napa Valley in a different way…and NASCAR…and a bridge located where 2 engines (5 units) got submerged.
The draw-bridges, they weren’t the fault.
D’ya want to know ?
It’s probably best to not tell…

Great concept but I am waiting for the train that will run from some point in the northeast to Talladega. Iwonder how much interest there would be for that service.

Sounds like a good idea to look at to get fans to race tracks near raillines. There are more than a few of them in this country.
and not all NASCAR fans are rednecks…

Don’t invest too much in the venture. Sports illustrated called Nascar “America’s Hottest Sport” back in 1995. Today, thanks to Nascar itself, its the most boring sport in America losing fans and viewership in droves.

A one-off, over trackage that was mostly freight-only prior to April 30, 1971. There were trains passing within sight of Lambeau Field until that day. Discuss.

It’s a road race, not a race that is as exciting as looking down into blender making a Margarita.
The rare trackage has got to be a lure…my grandson rode my engine Lombard to Krug… I can’t verify anyone rode from Lombard over to Sear’s Point that wasn’t an employee doing his thing.

I would think it’s a good idea. All the race fans I know are usually bored with NASCAR because they just race round and round in a circle. This is a road race, meaning it’s one of the few times each year where they actually race. And since it can be a pain to drive to the track from some places, why not run a train over this route that doesn’t normally have passenger trains. Besides, SOME in NASCAR can actually drive, ride the train and see who they are.

Rednecks & rails.
There i’ve already written their advrtizing slogan for them.
